Spanish Legal Translations was founded by an American educated lawyer who also has a Master’s Degree in linguistics. We work together with lawyers and linguists to provide the highest quality translations. Because of our experience with the legal systems in the United States and other countries, we are in a unique position for editing and translating legal documents.
Legal translation is a very specific skill. You must have a thorough understanding of the language you translate into. Any lawyer knows that law itself is a specific language. Language acquires a specific role when it is in a legal context. The documents we translate can be used in Court.

LEGAL TRANSLATION SERVICES
Legal systems vary dramatically from on country to another. Every word in a contract has particular meaning and must be used correctly. While this is certainly difficult to get right in English, it is even more difficult to get it right in two languages. It is not just the language that needs to be translated. The legal system and culture must also be taken into account. An understanding of the terminology and legal structures of both countries is essential.

In-Person interpreting requires the interpreter to be physically present for the interpretation. Where we interpret:

Video and Telephone Interpreting
Video and telephonic interpreting has all of the benefits of in-person interpreting. Video and telephonic interpreting can be done in all settings where in-person interpreting can be done. But, in contrast with in-person interpreting, video and telephonic interpreters are always available.
The video allows legal professionals and their clients to fully grasp the mater being interpreted.
It is cost effective and great for many types of situations. Our experience includes family courts, federal courts, immigration courts, social security hearings, state court systems and others.
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) requires all foreign language documents to be accompanied by a full English language certified translation in accordance with Title 8 Code of Federal Regulations – 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3).
USCIS does not require notarization or the original translation; the digital copy we provide will be accepted.

ALFRED
SANTOS
Alfred was born in the USA and is a native English speaker. He has a master’s degree in linguistics and a law degree in law from The University of Maryland School of Law in the USA. He has over 20 years of experience working as an attorney in the United States.
He is a licensed court interpreter and has several years of experience in U.S. courtrooms. He has translated and published several academic articles and books.
Because Alfred speaks Russian, Spanish, English and has practiced law in the United States, he is in a unique position to edit, translate, explain and teach legal concepts.
